New Main Side Hustle – Authority Website Project

Authority Website Side Hustle

My main side hustle is selling physical products on Amazon.  This is a great money maker, netting me around $2,000 per month.  But there are a couple downsides.

The first is that competition is growing like crazy.  Every day there are more competitors popping up trying to copy existing products and undercut them on price.  It's a brutal race to the bottom and I can see the writing on the wall; in a few years Amazon will be so saturated that the easy money coming now will be dried up.

In an effort to avoid that, I'm trying to expand my side hustles into other areas that are a little more defensible against competition.

I've dabbled in some niche websites in the past in attempt to make affiliate income.  Ultimately I didn't care about the topic and I didn't grow the website enough to make any real money.

I've been a big fan of Authorityhacker.com and I've read a lot of content on their site.  The guys on Authority Hacker have their own websites they run that are proven and make good money so I knew they were knowledgeable and weren't just talking out of their asses.

They have a program they sell for $599 that teaches you their "Authority System".  Basically it's a step by step guide on how to build an affiliate website and grow it to the point where you can make $10,000 per month.

So I bought the program and got started.  So far I've been really impressed and the information they have in the program is really helpful.  I've been putting in the time to build my site out and hopefully in about 6 months, once I get out of the 'Google Sandbox', I'll start to see some real traffic and real income.

Progress So Far

So far I've purchased a domain and got my hosting set up on WPX hosting (highly recommended).  I got a theme installed and bought a logo on Fiverr.

Whenever I get a logo on Fiverr I always purchase at least 2 or 3 since you never know how the quality will be.  For $5, I can't complain, the logo I got back was good enough for now and was better than anything I could create on my own.

I also purchased a subscription to Ahrefs which is pretty expensive at $99 per month.  It's a really nice tool and I was able to pick out about 150 keywords to target so I'll have no shortage of ideas for articles to write.  I'll probably cancel Ahrefs after another month then just resubscribe to it as needed or when my website actually starts making money.

This authority site will be my main focus now and I've been adding 1 new article per day, of about 1,000-1,500 words in length.  I'm going to commit to this schedule for the next 6 months and see how the growth goes.  Then I'll be hiring some freelancers to outsource the content creation so I can focus more on link building.

I'll be talking much more about this project going forward since I think it's the best combination of a side hustle that has high earning potential and low barrier to entry.  Not everyone can launch a physical product business and sell on Amazon so an authority website is a much easier way to dip your toes into making money online.

Some links on this website may earn me a small commission if you click on them at no extra cost to you. For more information please click this text to see the full affiliate disclosure.
