March 2019 Side Hustle Income Report

In case you didn't read my most recent post where I bragged about doing nothing, during the month of March I.... Did nothing.

This was partly due to being burnt out after writing every day for 67 days in a row and partially because life was busy. I'm in the process of remodeling my kitchen with Ikea cabinets that I have to put together and going on a spring break trip with my family to North Carolina.

Without further explanation, here are my results for March:

  • Amazon Affiliate Income: $909
  • Ezoic Advertising Income: $602
  • Merch by Amazon: $99
  • Adsense: $10

Total: $1,620

Side note on the income; when I sold my Amazon FBA business I lost access to my Merch by Amazon account since it was under the same email address. I can't even log in to my account or upload new designs but I keep getting a paycheck every month from them. Can't get much more passive than that ๐Ÿ™‚

Expenses for March:

  • Ahrefs - $99
  • Thrive Architect - $25
  • Ezoic Premium - $110
  • Link building - $501

Total - $735

One of the items excluded from this is any articles I ordered on Text broker. The way their system works is you load in $100 or $200 at a time then as you pay for articles you send out $20 or $50 of the total amount you loaded into your account. To keep things simple I'm just going to report on the deposits I make into my account and last month I didn't have to make any.

Net Profit: $885

Not a bad month for doing almost no work ๐Ÿ™‚

Obviously the laziness can't continue for ever and I need to continue to build my sites. I'm ordering more articles through Text broker to build up my sites but posting the content is a huge pain in the ass.

I'm getting close to hiring a virtual assistant to do this for me but that would cost at least $400 per month to hire someone from the Philippines and right now I don't have enough work to keep them busy full time.

For now I'll keep slogging through. Adding the images and fixing the formatting takes me anywhere from 10-30 minutes per post so it's not too bad but it's also not something I enjoy doing.

Paying $400 per month for someone to do this for me just isn't worth it until I'm ordering at least 50-100 articles per month which would cost about $1,000-$3,000 per month. I don't want to spend a lot more than my sites are earning or I'll burn through the cash I've got from selling my FBA business and then I'll be stuck with nobody to outsource anything to.

The plan for now is to grow slowly, only spend what I can afford and let the sites grow naturally. I'm in this for the long haul and I'm not planning to sell any of the sites that I'm adding more content to so there's no rush to get things going faster.
