April 2019 Side Hustle Income Report

This site is slowly turning into nothing more than income reports...which is kind of bad because that's all I do. But it's also a good thing because that means all of my time is going towards growing my other sites.

And they're growing like crazy πŸ™‚

April was one of my best months for top line revenue. Here's the break down:

  • Amazon Affiliate Income: $984
  • Ezoic Advertising Income: $672
  • Merch by Amazon: $65
  • Adsense: $15

Total: $1,736

Expenses for April:

  • Ahrefs - $99
  • Thrive Architect - $25
  • Ezoic Premium - $110
  • Link building - $171
  • Textbroker - $500
  • Youtube Experiment - $96
  • Instagram Followers - $55
  • Hosting - $62

Total: $1,118

Net Profit: $618

I tested out some Youtube/Instagram things this month but ultimately I don't think they're worth it. My websites are doing well and continuing to grow so that's where I'm going to continue to focus my attention and money.

I've found a couple really good writers on Textbroker so I'm going to try to spend at least $500 per month on new content and another $300-$500 per month on outreach for link building.

These are the only two things you need to succeed with niche websites so it makes sense for me to reinvest as much as possible into these areas.

On that note, I'm going to be doing my largest content creation so far. I've found 30-40 keywords to target for the software/music related site I purchased a year ago. This is going to be a total of 49,000 words and will cost me about $1,000.

Most of these keywords are info related so I'll need to get a lot of traffic to make my money back but based on the articles I had written in December 2018 which have done really well, I think this will have a positive ROI.

Outsourcing

Now that I've found a couple of good writers, my next issue is getting the content posted on my site.

When I get a finished article back, I still have to format it to my liking (mostly adding white space, bulleted lists, bold, italics, etc. making it not boring to read), adding pictures, videos, Amazon affiliate links, etc.

It's tedious and time consuming and I hate it.

So I found someone to do it for me!

I found a freelancer on Fiverr who charges about $10 per hour and can do all of this work for me.

I still have to write up the instructions but it's much easier than doing the work myself and posting the articles is usually the same process so I can re-use my old instructions, just adding in the relevant Amazon links myself.

This has allowed me to continue to grow my sites without spending any time on it which has always been my goal.

Now that my sites are making close to $2k per month, I can just keep pouring money back into them to grow them. It's a beautiful snowball of growth. The more my sites make, the more content I can have created, which makes them grow more and make more money which leads to more content and more growth, and on and on it goes πŸ™‚

What's Next for This Site

I'd like to say I'm going to spend more time on this site and create more content than just income reports but for the next 3-4 months that's pretty unlikely.

I'm in the middle of a kitchen remodel and summer is cmoing up soon which means vacations, traveling, and hanging out with my family.

Eventually I'm going to create a free course (free!) that will teach people how to do what I'm doing but that's a big ass project and I just don't have the time or motivation to do it right now.
